Home Selling Tips
- Make your home the "shiniest apple" of the batch. Curb appeal can have a dramatic effect on the marketing of a home, and improving this appeal can often be accomplished with limited cost and/or a little "elbow grease".
- While it can be difficult to maintain surgical cleanliness in a house in which you still reside, it is of utmost importance to keep your house as clean as possible during the selling phase. So, yes, it may be time to deep clean the house. You don't want dust bunnies on the ceiling fan turning away potential buyers.
- Speaking of cleaning...The cleaner the slate, the easier it is for a potential buyer to imagine your house as his or her new home. Try to remove individual touches (i.e. family portraits, holiday decorations, etc.) when photographing or showing the home.
- Fix the easy stuff! Chipped paint on a baseboard, a leaky faucet, or a stuck closet door are all easy and cheap to fix. Yet, these minor problems can leave potential buyers with a negative impression of the home if you fail to address them. Put on the overalls and summon your inner Bob Vila; you'll be happy you did.
These are just a few tips I've learned in my 22 years of selling houses. Call or send me an email and I'd be happy to share my wealth of experience with you so that you can realize your home's selling potential.
